Popularity Contest.

1. Joe Mauer
2. Buster Posey
3. Chase Utley

All deserving names in the past few years to be candidates for the All Star Game. However, 2011 has been a year of injury for these names and has taken away from plate appearances and games played. These names still rest high above other deserving names at each players position's category in the current ASG voting polls. Now, I am not one to say "Sure your from Phillie, but don't vote for a guy who is arguably the best second baseman in MLB AND is more popular than Michael Nutter (Current Philadelphia Major) in Philadelphia". Everyone has a right to vote for their representative at the All State Game from their respected cities and if you want to vote for a slumping Chase Utley, by all means, go ahead.

On a larger spectrum, people tend forget that this game is a League vs League game, bragging rights for the rest for the year and most importantly, home field advantage at the show.Put the individual away for a game, put your favorite team aside for a minute, and look out for the best interest of the league.

Take this for example:
Listen, I love Tulo.. In fact he is my favorite SS in Major League Baseball. And a April 2011 Tulo does deserve to be at the ASG this year.. If Jose Reyes wasn't having the best year of his career.

(as of 6/14/2011)

Jose Reyes
63 Games Started
275 @ Bats
20 Stolen Bases

.386 OBP%, .524 SLG%, .342 AVG. leading the NL.

VS.

Troy Tulowitzki
65 Games Started
252 @ Bats
13 Home Runs
.339 OBP%, .496 SLG%, .270 AVG.

To me this is a no brain er, to America.. maybe not.

What about this one?

Trade Rumors: Adam Dunn

 http://cdn.picapp.com/ftp/Images/7/c/3/2/MLB_MAY_19_f619.JPG?adImageId=1797252&imageId=4857448
Right now the Chicago White Sox are pushing hard to sign Adam Dunn. Sox GM, Kenny Williams, is putting prospects Daniel Hudson and Dayan Viciedo on the table to lure Dunn to the Windy City. Washington's Rizzo is hoping to get possibly Carlos Quentin in return from the deal, but most likely wont happen.
With Adam Dunn's salary to be the remainder of his 2 year 20 million, the Nationals may want to free up some salary space by shipping Dunn away. Chicago is currently in first place in the AL Central, with a very hungry raining AL Central champions, Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers 2 1/2 games behind. Andruw Jones was off to a hot start, but has now reduced his batting avg. to .210, 13HR, and 30 RBI's which could cause a concern for an additional DH or bat . Dunn would serve the perfect DH especially with Konerko possibly going elsewhere before the July 31 deadline.

The Angels, Mariners, And Chicago could all benefit from Dunn's bat and utility between first base and the OF.

2010: Farewell Lou Piniella.

 http://susanshan.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/lou-piniella.jpg
2010 marks the end year of Lou Piniella's journey in Major League Baseball. Today, Piniella announces his retirement from baseball as the Cubs can't seem to gain a lead on the NL Central. I can't say much about Piniella other than his aggressive demeanor for game. I will remember him most for his conflicts with umpires and his confidence in his ball clubs, no matter what situation they were in. Farewell Lou, enjoy life away from the Diamond.
